Thanksgiving

With Thanksgiving just a few days away, I started thinking what will I teach Adam about Thanksgiving. So I started to really look into the true meaning of Thanksgiving.

I found that in ancient times, people of many cultures (including the ancient Greeks, Romans, Hebrews, Egyptians and Chinese) gave thanks to their god or gods for a successful harvest, and some of the traditions associated with modern Thanksgiving celebrations have their roots in these ancient festivals.

One aspect of Thanksgiving involves gratitude for having enough food to eat. I hope that as he gets older, we will be able to involve him in the shopping and donating of groceries to a local food bank. I also hope that we can teach him that this is something that we all should be doing all year long.

So I pose this question to you. What does Thanksgiving mean to your family? What do you hope your children learn about this holiday?

This is what happens when friends move. You get a big box of stuff that they are unable to have shipped with their household goods. I am definetly set as far as spices go for awhile. We also recieved a large amount of cleaning supplies, which are always welcome! Thanks to the Rinaldi family. We will miss you greatly.

Home from Egypt!!!

Todd just returned from his trip to Cairo. During is "work" trip he was able to enjoy some site. The famous Pyramids!

I don't know what the big deal is. They arent that big!

Quite an experience being on a camel. Better have good balance.

The famous Sphinx!!

Definetly a must see in ones liftime. Todd was able to bring back a cute little teddy bear from the Hard Rock Cafe Cairo for Adam. He also brought a Kartush (necklace) for Carrie, that has Adam's name in hieroglyphics. It is beautiful.

So he really enjoyed his trip. Hopefully we will be able to take a trip there as a family one day. :)
